3. Adults Only

Anemoia is intended only for users aged 18 or older, or the applicable age of legal majority if higher in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly permit minors to use the Service. If we become aware that a person who does not meet the applicable age requirement has provided personal information, we may suspend the account and take reasonable steps to delete or otherwise appropriately handle that information.

If you believe a minor has used Anemoia, contact us at [PRIVACY EMAIL]. We may use age-assurance or age-verification mechanisms where reasonably necessary or required by law.

4. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use Anemoia.

A. Account Information

We may collect email address; username or display name; authentication information; account identifier; age or age-confirmation status; profile settings; language; country or approximate region; and account preferences. If you use a third-party login provider, we may receive information that provider makes available to us according to your settings and authorization.

B. Interactive Experience Data

When you use Anemoia, we may process information about how you experience and interact with fictional worlds. This may include stories you enter; characters you interact with; choices you make; dialogue options you select; scenes you view; experiences you complete; virtual objects or achievements you obtain; Memories you save; content you like, hide, revisit, or otherwise interact with; progress within stories; and timestamps and interaction history. This information may be used to maintain continuity between experiences and personalize what happens next.

C. AI Conversation and Prompt Data

If you interact with AI-powered features, we may process prompts you submit; messages sent to fictional characters; conversation history; generated responses; contextual information needed to maintain a conversation or story; and safety classifications or moderation signals associated with an interaction. Please do not submit information that you do not want processed as part of your Anemoia experience.

D. User Content

Depending on available features, you may provide text, images, profile content, comments, messages, preferences, feedback, and other content you choose to submit.

E. Usage and Device Information

We may automatically collect technical information such as IP address; device type; operating system; browser type; application version; language settings; approximate location derived from IP address; session identifiers; pages or screens viewed; referring pages; timestamps; crash information; performance information; and interactions with interface elements. We do not collect precise location unless a feature specifically requires it and appropriate notice or consent is provided.

F. Payment Information

If you purchase a subscription or digital product, payment information may be processed by our payment provider. We may receive transaction information such as purchase amount, currency, subscription status, transaction identifier, payment status, and limited billing information. We generally do not receive or store complete payment-card numbers when payments are handled by a third-party payment processor.

G. Communications

If you contact us, we may process your email address, name, message, attachments, support history, and other information you choose to provide.

5. Sensitive Information

Your interactions with fictional stories or characters may sometimes reveal information that could be considered sensitive or highly personal. For example, a conversation or choice might indirectly reveal information relating to relationships, sexuality, health, beliefs, or other personal matters. Anemoia does not require you to provide such information in order to use ordinary features of the Service. Please avoid providing highly sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for a feature you intentionally choose to use.

Where applicable law treats certain information as a special or sensitive category of personal data, we will process that information only where an appropriate legal basis or other legal condition exists. We do not use sensitive personal information to determine eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing, or similarly consequential opportunities.

6. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

Provide the Service

Including creating and maintaining your account; delivering interactive experiences; remembering story progress; maintaining narrative continuity; generating AI responses; saving Memories; operating social or community features; and processing purchases.

Personalize Anemoia

We may use your interactions to determine which stories, characters, locations, experiences, scenes, recommendations, and narrative paths may be most relevant to you. For example, choices you make in one experience may influence what becomes available later.

Improve the Service

We may analyze how users interact with Anemoia to understand which features are useful; identify technical problems; improve storytelling; evaluate recommendation quality; improve AI systems; develop new features; and conduct analytics and research. Where reasonably possible, we may use aggregated or de-identified information for these purposes.

Safety and Security

We may process information to detect fraud; prevent abuse; enforce age restrictions; moderate prohibited content; detect security incidents; protect users and the Service; and investigate violations of our Terms.

Communications

We may send service messages, account notifications, security alerts, purchase confirmations, support responses, and important legal notices. Where permitted, we may also send marketing communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications using the method provided in the communication.

Legal Compliance

We may process information where reasonably necessary to comply with law; respond to valid legal requests; establish or defend legal claims; enforce our agreements; and protect rights, safety, and property.

7. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, our legal bases may include:

Performance of a Contract

We process information necessary to provide the Service you request, including maintaining your account, delivering interactive experiences, preserving story progress, and processing purchases.

Legitimate Interests

We may process information where necessary for legitimate interests such as operating and improving Anemoia; maintaining security; preventing fraud and abuse; understanding product performance; developing features; and providing relevant recommendations. We consider the impact on your privacy before relying on legitimate interests.

Consent

We rely on consent where required, including for certain cookies or tracking technologies, marketing communications, processing of sensitive information, and optional features. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Legal Obligations

We may process information where necessary to comply with applicable law.

8. AI Processing

Anemoia uses artificial intelligence and automated systems to provide parts of the Service. Information you provide may be processed to generate character responses; create or adapt stories; maintain conversational context; generate or select images; personalize narrative experiences; recommend content; and detect prohibited or unsafe activity.

We may use third-party AI infrastructure or model providers to perform some of these functions. Where third-party providers process personal information on our behalf, we seek to use appropriate contractual and technical safeguards. We do not intend to use automated systems to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.

9. Improving AI Systems

We may use interactions with Anemoia to evaluate and improve our systems, including storytelling, recommendations, safety systems, and AI features. Where appropriate, we may take measures such as removing direct identifiers, aggregating information, filtering sensitive information, or limiting access before using interaction data for improvement purposes.

If we introduce use of identifiable user conversations for training general-purpose AI models beyond what is necessary to provide Anemoia, we will provide additional notice and, where required by law, obtain consent or provide an appropriate choice.

10. Personalization and Profiling

Anemoia may build a limited profile of your preferences based on your activity within the Service. For example, the system may consider previous story choices; characters you interact with; genres or locations you select; saved Memories; experiences you complete; and engagement with recommended content. These signals may influence what content is presented to you.

This profiling is intended to personalize entertainment and does not produce legal or similarly significant effects. Where required by applicable law, you may have rights relating to profiling or automated processing.

11. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, local storage, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to keep you signed in; remember preferences; operate the Service; maintain security; measure performance; understand usage; conduct analytics; and support marketing where permitted. Where required by law, non-essential cookies or similar technologies will be used only after obtaining appropriate consent. You can manage available cookie choices through our cookie settings where provided.

12. How We Share Information

We do not sell your private conversations to third parties. We may share personal information with limited categories of recipients as necessary to operate Anemoia.

Service Providers

These may include providers of cloud hosting, databases, authentication, analytics, AI models and infrastructure, content delivery, email, customer support, security, moderation, and payments. These providers may process information only for authorized purposes, subject to applicable contractual obligations.

Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or a valid legal process; protect the rights or safety of users or others; investigate fraud or abuse; or enforce our Terms.

Business Transactions

If Anemoia is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law.

With Your Direction

We may share information when you intentionally request or authorize us to do so.

13. Public and Community Information

If Anemoia allows you to publish Memories, profile information, activity, comments, or other content publicly or to a community, information you choose to publish may be visible to other users. You should not publish information you wish to keep private. Private Memories and private conversations will not be intentionally displayed publicly unless you choose to share them or a feature clearly indicates otherwise.

14. International Data Transfers

Anemoia and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, which may include adequacy decisions; Standard Contractual Clauses; the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum; and other legally recognized transfer mechanisms. You may contact us for additional information about applicable safeguards.

15. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Retention periods depend on the type of information. For example:

  • account information may be retained while your account remains active;
  • story progress and Memories may be retained while necessary to provide your account experience;
  • transaction records may be retained as required for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes;
  • security logs may be retained for a limited period appropriate to security needs;
  • deleted information may remain temporarily in backups before being overwritten.

We may retain aggregated or de-identified information where it can no longer reasonably identify you.

16. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These may include access controls, encryption where appropriate, monitoring, secure infrastructure, and internal restrictions on access. No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

17. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information. These may include the right to access personal information; correct inaccurate information; request deletion; restrict certain processing; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; receive certain information in a portable format; object to certain profiling or automated processing; and lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

You may exercise available rights through account controls or by contacting [PRIVACY EMAIL]. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

18. European Economic Area and United Kingdom

If you are located in the EEA or United Kingdom, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR. You may also lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your country. We encourage you to contact us first so we can attempt to address your concern.

19. United States Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights under applicable state laws. Depending on the law that applies, these may include rights to know what personal information we collect; access personal information; correct information; delete information; obtain a portable copy; opt out of certain targeted advertising; opt out of certain sales or sharing of personal information; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and appeal certain privacy-request decisions.

If Anemoia engages in activities legally defined as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, we will provide legally required controls, including an appropriate opt-out mechanism where applicable. We do not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights.

20. Do Not Sell or Share

Anemoia does not sell private AI conversations in exchange for money. If our use of advertising or analytics technologies is considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under applicable U.S. privacy laws, we will provide legally required controls, including an appropriate opt-out mechanism where applicable.

21. Email and Marketing Preferences

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe link included in those communications. We may still send transactional or service-related communications necessary for your account or use of Anemoia.

22. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information through available account settings or by contacting [PRIVACY EMAIL]. Deletion may not be immediate in every system. We may retain limited information where required or permitted for legal compliance; accounting; fraud prevention; security; dispute resolution; and enforcement of agreements. Information may also remain temporarily in secure backups until those backups are overwritten according to our retention procedures.

23. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information to third parties.

24. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Anemoia evolves. The latest version will display the date it became effective. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice where required by applicable law.
