About Anemoia

You only get one life.
We never thought that was enough.

There are places you will never visit, people you will never meet and nights that will never happen.

Not because you chose the wrong life. There simply isn’t enough time to live every version of it.

Somewhere along the way, we became obsessed with a simple question:

What if you could experience the lives you never lived? Not watch them. Not read about them. Live them.

That question became Anemoia.

01

Why Anemoia?

The word anemoia was coined by writer John Koenig in The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows. He created it to describe nostalgia for a time you’ve never known.

We loved the idea, but wondered if it could go further.

Could you miss a place you’ve never been? Remember someone you’ve never met? Feel nostalgic for a night that never happened? We think you can. So we are building a world made from those possibilities.

Memories of a life you never lived.

Who we are

We are a small independent group of writers, filmmakers, designers, game creators and technologists fascinated by storytelling and human experience.

Collectively, members of our team have spent years working across film, streaming, interactive entertainment and games.

Eventually, we wanted to build something of our own. Something that sits somewhere between cinema, a game and a memory without quite being any of them.

Anemoia is our attempt to do that. Every life begins with a story written and shaped by people. Technology helps us make those stories personal — allowing places, relationships and memories to unfold differently for different guests.

There is no single version of Anemoia. There is only the one you live.

03

The people you meet

The people inside Anemoia aren’t simply faces generated for a story. We work with real adult models and performers — women and men — who license their likeness for use within Anemoia.

Their appearance can become the foundation for characters who travel, meet people, form relationships and appear across different lives. The stories themselves are fictional.

But the people who help us create them are real, consenting participants in what we’re building. For us, that’s important.
